Peanut Butter and Hot Pepper Jelly Burgers

This year my youngest daughter started preschool 4 days a week, and she is gone for 2.5 hours each of those days. It is the weirdest thing having a quiet house during those hours. 9 years of caring for the kids full time,  this was completely foreign to me!

So my husband and I started a Thursday afternoon lunch ritual last fall while all 3 kids are at school. Each week we go out for food at a new to us restaurant, in and around Bedford and Manchester.

One week last fall we stopped in at the famous KC's Rib Shack and ordered, sriracha deviled eggs (which I recreated here), bbq ribs, and a peanut butter and jelly hamburger. Yes that is right, a PEANUT BUTTER AND JELLY hamburger! It was served with jalapeño slices and tons of bacon. And it rocked my world!

I have been waiting all year to blog about this burger for my friend Kita's Burger Month. A month of bloggers sharing over the top amazing burgers,  as well has SO many fantastic giveaways.

Below the recipe for this Peanut Butter and Hot Pepper Jelly Burger, there is info on the items being given away by our sponsors as well as directions on how to enter!

Peanut Butter and Hot Pepper Jelly Burgers:

These burgers have the perfect mix of sweet, salty, and spicy. If you can't find pepper jelly, you can substitute it for your favorite fruit jelly and serve with sliced jalapeños instead.

Ingredients:
4 pretzel buns
1-1 1/2 lbs certified angus ground beef ( I use 85%lean)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp kosher salt
Pickled onions
8 slices of bacon
1/2 cup peanut butter ( I used creamy, but natural or crunchy will be awesome too!)
1/2 cup hot pepper jelly
Optional: Micro-greens or lettuce for topping

Directions:

Mix ground beef with garlic and salt, form into 4 burger patties. Grill over a preheated grill for about 4 minutes per side. Or until the burgers are grilled to your preferred redness. I like mine well done with just a slight touch of pink.

Serve on a pretzel bun with pickled onions, peanut butter, pepper jelly and greens.

  4. I will admit I have been skeptical when hearing PB as an ingredient on burgers, but I am an adventurous foodie and this recipe has got me excited to give it a try! What an epic flavor combo you've got going on! I must say, I like adding either an egg or avo for my top-notch burgers :)

    1. I think if people get passed the initial weirdness. They'll realize it makes sense! We put peanut butter in our Thai cuisines all the time and that's not weird.

I'm also always for a good runny egg on top too... 😍😍

My ultimate epic burger would be all southwestern/chipotle type ingredients. I love southwest flavors! Maybe a spicy southwest sauce, jalapenos, avocado, etc. Maybe use crisped tortillas in place of buns for a little crunch. Yum.
