Pumpkin Brown Sugar Cookies Dipped in Molasses Caramel

A simple roll out Pumpkin Brown Sugar Cookies Dipped in a rich Molasses Caramel.

Want to know what I love? TV.

Which is kind of funny considering 4-5 years ago I went on a TV strike, didn't allow the kids to watch it, we got rid of cable.... and  ALL of our TVs. Life was much more quiet and simple then. Fast forward a few years, and I have 3 kids. TV is a must now. I can't live without. I know this sounds awful, but I look forward to TV time. It's the only part of my day that the kids sit still and stop asking for stuff.

Slowly over the last year, I've started to become obsessed with a few really good shows, The Newsroom, Downton Abbey, Sons of Anarchy, Breaking Bad, and Orange Is The New Black.

If you have followed me on social media over the last few weeks, you would know that I am also super obsessed with Friday Night Lights. For years I listened to people talk about the show, and I never fully understood why everyone was so obsessed with a football show. I am not a fan of football, in fact, I kind of hate all sports, so I never had the desire to start the show.

Then one rainy lazy day at home I saw that it was Amazon Prime. So I started watching it. A month and a half later, I finished all five seasons.

I am not sure what kind of spell this particular series cast on me. But I was in deep. From the moment I woke up I put it on. It played on my iPad or laptop while I was cleaning, baking, blogging, or while the kids slept. I could not break free of it! When I wasn't watching Friday Night Lights, I was thinking about it, or talking about it on facebook and twitter.

Over the last month I formed a major crush on one of the main characters, Coach Eric Taylor. He is so stinking adorable. Whenever I would talk to anyone about Friday Night Lights they would ooo and ahhh over Tim Riggins. The bad boy with long dirty hair. Yeah... I get that whole bad boy appeal, and I definitely noticed his rock hard abs. But the boy needs a shower and a hair brush bad. The whole hair thing just doesn't do it for me. Then it dawned on me. I like the old guy in the show... I must be getting old! When did this happen? This transition of thinking more mature men, men with slightly graying hair... are attractive?

My crush on Coach Taylor was getting bad.... to the point I think my husband may have been jealous of Coach and the Dillon Panthers. He even caught me saying..... Y'all in a sentence one day. I'm from New Hampshire.. I have a really strong Yankee accent. If there is one word Yanks should not say. It is "Y'all". The husband laughed at me... And I could not believe I let it slip! I want to be southern SO bad!

As if this one sided emotional affair with Coach Taylor wasn't depressing enough.... I finished the show much too quick. I now have an empty spot in my life that just can't be filled.

Seriously now. How great are the writers of Friday Night Lights? They are so good that this sports hating New Englander feels a special connection to Texas and a sense of team spirit for a pretend TV high school football team.

Believe me, I know how pathetic my gushing over FNL is. So lets just skip ahead to some cookies shall we?

It is bugging me so bad that there is a couple black specs on this cookie... I have no idea what it is and didn't notice it until I uploaded my photos. I blame the kids.... I'm sure they did something to my cookies.

  2. I've never seen Friday Night Lights, but it sounds like I'll have to try it, along with these gorgeous cookies!

  3. Will the caramel dry like a hard icing or will it remain wet on the cookies? Just wondering about having to transport them - don't want to have a sticky mess if I stack them!

    1. They will stick together. This pretty cookie stack... didn't work so well for me. BUT here is what I would do.... place parchment or wax paper between each cookie layer? Or use a large enough box/pan that they can sit in one layer.

  4. I feel like I'm the last person on the planet to watch FNL. As soon as I finished Orange is the New Black, I'm making a double batch of these stunning cookies, plopping on the couch and jumping on the FNL train!

  6. Television was my third parent. I love it so much. When the Husband and I moved into our apartment, I told him that priority #1 was buying a TV and setting up cable. I would've forgone furniture so long as I had my TV. I read Lainey Gossip everyday and that woman ADORES Friday Night Lights. I need to find it and binge watch asap, especially now that Breaking Bad is over (sob) and I just finished Season 4 of Dexter, which everyone says is the last good season. I also need to make these cookies and perhaps drink some of that molasses caramel.

    1. Wasn't the Breaking Bad finale the best though? That's a show I have to say I will miss.... but the ending was perfect. I watched Dexter up through Season 3... I should probably start it back up again not that I don't have Friday Night Lights to watch.
