It is that time of year when the cute little Girl Scouts come knocking at your door. How can you resist a box or 2, 3..... or 10 of America's favorite cookies?
Samoas are a dangerous thing. Highly addictive and bad for your diet plans. What does one do if there are no Girl Scouts around, or your cookie order has not arrived yet? Lucky for you I know how to kick the Girl Scout cookie withdrawal symptoms two ways.
One: Little Keebler does make some not so bad knock offs. They will curb the craving in no time. If you are like me sometimes going to the store is a task and a half. Who wants to load three kids up in their winter gear and head out into the ice and snow for a box of cookies?
Two: Get to work in the kitchen. With a little playing around my husband and I stumbled upon a dip that hits that spot. It's layered with milk chocolate, caramel and coconut. We then tried dipping various cookies in it to try and replicate that Samoa flavor. They were all tasty but not Girl Scout approved.
Then with a stroke of genius my husband tossed the cookies and grabbed a package of crackers.... Ritz crackers and all that chocolate, caramel and coconut that was it. It tasted spot on.
This week my friends and I are hosting another theme week. So we bring to you Sweets Week! What better treat to share then my favorite Girl Scout cookie in addictive dippable form.
I am a big fan of the dessert dips after seeing Megan's Pumpkin Cheesecake Crack Dip, then I created my S'more Crack Dip that has gone mad in the Internet world. Not sure if the world can handle another crack dip recipe... but lets see what we can get away with.
Samoa Crack Dip
Ingredients:
1 cup milk chocolate chips
1/2 cup milk
1 cup caramel sauce (store bought)
3/4 cups coconut, toasted
Ritz crackers for dipping
Directions:
Over low heat, whisk chocolate and milk together constantly until smooth. Spread on the bottom of a pie plate leaving a bout 1-2 tbs to drizzle over the finished product
In a small pan mix caramel and coconut together until warm. Spread over chocolate. Drizzle with remaining chocolate.
Dip Ritz crackers in it and enjoy!

DeleteThis is beyond dangerous, given that I may have once put down an entire box of Samoas in one day. #cookieshame
ReplyDeleteI can't put the box down once it is open. I am so ashamed.
DeleteWould it be weird to face-plant in the dip, and skip the dippers entirely? I love samoas, so I know that I will just eat this with a spoon. Totally not sharing, either. ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's spoon worthy for sure.
DeleteThis would be devoured in no time at my house! I'm going to have to go to the store tonight to get coconut!

DeleteOh, I love this. I need to find me a girl scout, since Jordan isn't one anymore!
ReplyDeleteI plan on forcing Mads to be a G. Scout until she is 34 so I can get my hands on cookies easily. Every year I feel like I am on a hunt to find someone with a kid selling cookies!
