Classic Creamy Coleslaw

Coleslaw was one of my major obsessions when I was pregnant with my 2nd son Chase. I freaking loved the stuff so much I'd sit down with a  big bowl for lunch.

How gross is that?

I never made my own dressing however I would buy the pre shredded cabbage mix, you know the kind with the overly dried carrot shreds in there as well? Mix with a big bottle of Hidden Vally slaw dressing and call it good.

Sometimes I kick myself for how long I will eat something processed until I try making it myself. It's usually so easy, and tastes a heck of allot better!

Then I'm like "WHY didn't I do this before?"

I can answer that...

Carrie your lazy and assume things are more time consuming then they actually are!

If you are one to buy the bottle stuff, try this it's really worth it!

Classic Creamy Coleslaw

Ingredients:

1 small head of cabbage (shredded)
1 large carrot (shredded)

FOR YOUR DRESSING:

1/2 cup mayonnaise (the real stuff... no miracle whip!)
1/4 cup sour cream
1/4 cup sugar
1 tbs of honey
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/2 tbs celery seed
1/2 tbs dill weed
1 glove of garlic minced.
Salt and Pepper to taste

Directions:

In a bowl whisk together all of your dressing ingredients. Toss together with shredded cabbage and carrots.

Refrigerate until ready to serve. Best when it sits overnight.

  2. Love coleslaw! I have to admit though, I'm lazy and do use the bagged mix but I do make my own dressing and add in some other good stuff to liven it up. I like the look of your dressing!

  4. It's amazing what the addition of a little dill will do for cole slaw. I'm so happy you added it. :)

    1. Ohhh I have to use dill in all my salads. It gives it such a crisp fresh flavor that I have to have in the summer!

  7. Thank you Carrie for sharing this recipe with me at The Recipe Club. It's nothing like my Mother's but certainly sounds like it would be good. I would so much love to duplicate hers but different isn't a bad thing. I'm thinking she took this one to heaven with her.
