Yesterday I guest posted over on Cafe Terra. I shared one of my husbands top 5 meals.
I've never made my own Lobster Mac, in fact I have never made anything with lobster before.
I mean I've purchased lobster. Quite often actually. I bring it home for Hubs to boil and he eats it for a special meal from time to time. But I won't touch them!
There is something so evil about cooking lobster. You take it out of it's bag, it looks at you starts flapping it's little legs and claws, then you dunk it into a pot of boiling water?
Yeah I'm ashamed.
But I did it, though I don't think I will ever cook one again. I really dislike the little creatures but even still I don't have the heart to boil them alive.
My husband was very proud of me when he came home and saw that I cooked it.
I left it on a plate on the table ready to go for HIM to remove the meat. That's a job I definitely couldn't do!!! So he removed all the meat and I mixed it into this super rich and creamy macaroni I had made, topped it with a butter bread crumb topping and baked it.
He was in heaven, with every bite. It was one of the best things I had made him he said.

SO decadent and delicious! Love lobster mac n' cheese. Kudos to you for being so adventurous to make it at home!
ReplyDeleteWhat an over the top mac and cheese! I will only buy the frozen tails, because I can't boil it at home either!
ReplyDeleteWe have no where around here that sells love lobsters, but it's my goal to cook one... at least one
ReplyDeleteYou look so sad for the lobster. Poor little guy, but they're so yummy. This dis looks amazing.
ReplyDeleteI admire you for even touching the lobster! This dish sounds fancy and comforting in the same time. Love your pic :)
ReplyDeleteCarrie, I am so impressed. Most people would figure a way around cooking a lobster...using canned or imitation or whatever that was already prepared. I'm psyched to see you actually cooked a lobster for this delicious dish. I love mac n cheese and lobster, but have never tried them together...sound creamy and amazing!
ReplyDeleteYeah....I don't think I could do that! And since the hubs and I aren't huge seafood eaters...I probably won't ever have to! But I am WAY impressed that you did it:-)
ReplyDeleteyou are really brave I don't think I could do it but this mac and cheese with lobster really sounds delicious so I bet it was worth it
ReplyDeleteYou're bravely combining two of my favorite ingredients together - and the result looks amazing. I know some crazy chefs claim you shouldn't mix seafood and cheese, but clearly they've never seen this! I am featuring this post in today's Friday Food Fetish roundup (with a link-back and attribution), but please let me know if you have any objections. It's always a pleasure to be following your creations…
ReplyDeleteI have been craving lobster! We were supposed to travel to Maine for vacation this year so I could enjoy some fresh lobster but I don't think my little ones would tolerate an 11 hour car ride so we are vacationing closer. In the meantime I can get my lobster fix by whipping up your fantastic Lobster Mac and Cheese! Looks fabulous! Great job!
ReplyDeleteHi Carrie, I popped on over from Terra's blog. This dish looks wonderful except for the part about cooking the poor little lobster :(
ReplyDeleteGlad to meet you hope you stop on over to my site and say hi.
Good morning Carrie! I featured this recipe on my blog today, it looks great! Thanks for allowing me to share. Here is the link http://carriesexperimentalkitchen.blogspot.com/2012/05/week-16-seafood-frenzy-friday.html
ReplyDeleteVery solid! Way to face many at home cooks fear and tackle the lobster! Looks top shelf. Nice work mam
ReplyDeleteHello there! I just ate an amazing lobster mac and cheese for my five year anniversary dinner. Spectacular - though it feels horrible knowing those poor guys are alive seconds before they get dropped in the boiling water :(
ReplyDeleteLove lobster mac n' cheese.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks too yummy and delicious!!
