Can I really Blog?

So I am now a blogger....
We will see how long I stick with it. I've decided to create this blog as a kind  of journal  of my cooking and baking adventures as well as everyday life as a pregnant mama.
I want to have a place to combine all the things I love in my life most....
#1 My kids and husband
#2 FOOD (I love to eat and cook)
#3 New England (NH native and WICKED proud)

So lets start with today...

Today I took my boys  to the Wolfeboro NH Farmers Market. This was our first trip to this particular farmers market that takes place every Thursday from 12:30-4pm. Its relatively smaller compared to the one we normally attend in Concord. I pushed the boys along in their stroller as they chowed down on some cookies we purchased from a baker based out of Maine. Not to mention they loved every time someone offered a sample of a pickle, relish... and their all time favorite HONEY!

I just have to say I LOVE buying fresh local foods, I feel good about putting my money into the pockets of the farmers and bakers themselves. And its healthier! I know where the food was produced and who was involved in the making of it. I can eat it without wondering what that mystery ingredient might be....
So whenever possible I shop locally.

Two things I did not get that I almost purchased... a dozen quail eggs. I see them being used in restaurants and on Food Network allot lately. Perhaps next week I will grab some and see if we like them.  The other being goats yogurt.... hmmm

Today with 40$ in cash on me this is what I walked away with...
1 dozen organic free range chicken eggs
1 quart of strawberries
1 lb of flank steak
1 jar of honey
1 loaf of bread
1/2 dozen cookies
1/2 lb of kale
1 bunch of beets

Not bad for 40 bucks! I have tonight's dinner of steak and roasted beets (garden salad from our own garden) tonight's dessert... bread pudding (made with 1/2 the bread and eggs) topped with strawberries. Tomorrow's breakfast, strawberries drizzled with honey, and some of the cinnamon bread toasted up and eggs!

Oh and lets not forget the kale... I'll be making baked kale chips. I have never done this before, so we will see how it turns out...recipe to come!

3 meals  and snacks for a family of 4 for $40 all using fresh locally produced and made food. I'm pretty pumped!
